An engaged local business community is key to the success of this endeavour and the Municipality is inviting local businesses and the community to learn how they can participate in the program.
The community economic development program is essential to retaining an expanding a broad base of businesses and services in Hastings Highlands and to ensure that Council and the local businesses and community work together on economic development initiatives.
The Municipality recognizes that existing businesses are valuable economic and employment assests and the first stage of the Business Retention and Expansion Program is a survey of local business owners.
"Through our Business Retention and Expansion Program we are aiming to show existing local businesses their importance to Hastings Highlands by asking them about their needs, future plans, and how they think the local business environment could be improved", said Hastings Highlands Mayor Vivian Bloom.
Local businesses are urged to take this opportunity to learn more about this initiative and to network. Learn how this program will roll out and how to contribute to the pool of information about the local business community. The aggregated information being gathered during the program will be of great value in solving local problems, planning for the future, and general promotion of the community.
"A key aspect of this project is confidentiality", according to Cathy Trimble, Program Coordinator. "We do not publish information on individual businesses. The project is very careful about this confidentiality issue."
