Call for Applications – Hastings Highlands Public Library Board

“The Hastings Highlands Public Library strives to inspire lifelong learning, to advance knowledge and to strengthen our community”. The Board fills a governance role for the municipal library system as outlined in The Public Libraries Act; and to ensure that library programs, services and facilities meet the needs of the citizens of Hastings Highlands.

The Board is currently seeking applications for Board Members that must be at least eighteen (18) years of age, a Canadian citizen and a resident of Hastings Highlands. Consideration for the following qualities would be an asset:

  • Concern and pride for the community
  • Firm connections and affiliations with the community
  • Conviction that the Hastings Highlands Public Library is uniquely important to the life of the community
  • Ability to approach problems and people with an open mind
  • Courage to resist pressures which interfere with the community’s democratic right to library materials and service
  • Time and energy
  • Commitment to the ownership and specific mission of the library
  • Ability and eagerness to deal with values, vision and the long-term
  • Ability to participate assertively in deliberation
  • Willingness to delegate, to allow others to make decisions.

The Hastings Highlands Library Board holds a minimum of ten (10) meetings per year, on the fourth Wednesday of the month at 9:00 a.m. There is no remuneration paid to Board Members.
