2025 Draft Operating Budget | Municipality of Hastings Highlands

Each year staff put forward two (2) preliminary budgets to Council, an Operating Budget and a Capital Budget. These budgets are important as they set collective goals for Hastings Highlands.

The Operating Budget determines the financial plan of how much money the Municipality will raise and spend annually. The Operating Budget is a key planning document that provides a foundation to deliver municipal services and plan to implement goals, priorities, and provide a method to control income and expenses throughout the year. It determines and supports the level of service provided to residents and guides decisions about services, programs, and infrastructure within Hastings Highlands.

At the Council Meeting (In Writing or In-Person): Public comments can be provided to Council at or for the following Council Meetings:
- - February 26, 2025 - Special Meeting of Council (1st Reading of Operating Budget)
  - March 19, 2025 - Regular Meeting of Council (2nd Reading of Operating Budget)
- To Submit Comments in Writing: Comments or questions may be sent in writing to the attention of the Municipal Clerk before or during a meeting and will be received by Council ([email protected])
- In consideration of time restraints, electronic comments are limited to 250 words.
- To Provide Comments In-Person: Comments can be provided to Council In-Person at the above scheduled Council Meeting's for the 2025 Operating Budget.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Comments received by the deadline of March 13, 2025 at 12:00p.m. will be included in the March 19, 2025 Municipal Agenda for the 2nd Reading of the 2025 Draft Operating Budget. If you do not want your comments to be included in the Municipal Agenda, please contact Council direct to express your comments or feedback.

Participation in the 2025 Draft Operating Budget survey is voluntary and anonymous. Any personal information received through this feedback is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001 and will be managed in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (MFIPPA). The feedback received from the public will be used to help inform the Municipality's 2025 Draft Operating Budget.
