The region, which is part of Ontario's Highlands, offers a broad range of activities in all seasons. For outdoor enthusiasts our lakes, rivers and wilderness offer the best in boating, watersports, paddling, hiking, ATVing, snowmobiling (District 6), biking, fishing, ice skating, hunting, camping and more.
This area is very well known for featuring a very active arts community, numerous festivals and events, live theatre nearby, unique shops and restaurants plus great outdoor markets that are the centre of attraction for buyers, sellers, tourists and residents.
Summer Enjoyment: Our region features a host of many large and small lakes and rivers ideal for those who want to enjoy a stress free, peaceful environment relaxing by the water's edge or for those who wish to actively participate in a variety of water sports or activities. All of our larger lakes feature boat launches for easy access.
Winter Enjoyment: To make the most of our spectacular (but cold) snowy winters, put on your best warm winter gear, strap on your snowshoes, cross-country skis, skates or grab your fishing gear and ice hut and jump onto your snowmobile for the ultimate adventures nature offers on the icy frozen ground or lakes. It is easy to create long lasting memories in this area during our winter season. The scenery of the snow covered trees on the rolling hills alone truly offers breath-taking bright white beauty that is admired by many.
